CAUTION
Carefully unwrap thermostat switch sensing bulb from expansion valve
sensing line. Use care to prevent damage to sensing bulb.

Unwrap insulation tape from sensing bulb.
6. Expansion Valve
Mark location and remove two (2) metal

Carefully unwrap thermostat switch sensing
bulb from expansion valve sensing line.
d.
Unscrew and remove two (2) flare nuts and
remove refrigerant Iines from expansion valve.

Remove expansion valve.
Using a General Electric Type H-2 Halogen
a.
7. Expansion Valve
Test Detector (or approved equal), check
expansion valve for leaks.
b.
Calibrate the detector with a General Electric
LS-20 leak standard (or approved equal) for a
pure refrigerant leak rate of 0.1 ounce per
year.
Verify that there is NO leakage or damage.

Replace expansion valve if testing in indicates

that it is defective.

Connect expansion valve to refrigerant lines.
8. Expansion Valve
Tighten two (2) flare nuts.

Secure sensing bulb to refrigerant line with
two (2) metal straps.

C a r e f u l l y wrap insulation tape No. 165
manufactured by Pressite Division, Inmont
Inc., St Louis, MO, around sensing bulb and
refrigerant line. Completely cover sensing
bulb with tape.
e.
Carefully wrap thermostat switch sensing bulb
around expansion valve sensing line in the
same location that it was removed from.
