CHAPTER 3
ORGANIZATIONAL MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS
Section I. Repair Parts, Special Tools, TMDE, and Support Equipment
3-1.
COMMON TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT.
F o r authorized c o m m o n tools and equipment, refer to the Modified Table of Organiza-
tional and Equipment (MTOE) applicable to your unit.
3-2.
SPECIAL TOOLS, TMDE, AND SUPPORT EQUIPMENT.
T h e r e are no special tools, TMDE, or support equipment required to perform Organiza-
t i o n a l Maintenance on the air conditioner.
REPAIR PARTS.
3-3.
Repair parts are listed and illustrated in the Repair Parts and Special Tools List
T M 5-4120-364-23P covering Organizational Maintenance of this equipment.
Section II. Service Upon Receipt
ASSEMBLY AND PREPARATION FOR USE.

a.
Unpackaging.
( 1 ) Open wooden crate or container and remove air conditioner.
( 2 ) Remove any barrier material revering the air conditioner. Be sure to
r e m o v e any protective covering which may be over the air intake or exhaust grills
( 3 ) If air conditioner is attached to a wooden skid, remove from skid.
b .  Assembly. T h e r e are no assembly procedures, however, the air conditioner
should be inspected after receipt as follows:
( 1 ) Remove the front, rear and end panels from all sections and inspect
t h e air conditioner for physical damage to components and for oil leaks from the
rotor compressor.
( 2 ) Use available leak detector over the entire unit to inspect for re-
f r i g e r a n t leaks. Manually turn the fans to see that they turn freely with no rubb-
i n g or binding.
( 3 ) Check that all valves with the exception of the charging valve are
open (see figure 3-1).
Installation.
c.
( 1 ) The air conditioner should be mounted level and in the proper align-
m e n t with the shelter wall. The evaporator air outlet and return should not be re-
s t r i c t e d by equipment within the shelter. The condenser a i r blower should not be
r e s t r i c t e d by grills or covers. Adequate space shall be p r o v i d e d at the front and
s i d e s of the unit for the removal of panels for service and maintenance.
