TM 9-4120-389-14 4-7.  INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS WARNING The air conditioner must be grounded prior to operation.  Connect one end of a number   10   AWG   (American   Wire   Gauge)   copper   wire   ground   lead   to   an underground metallic cold water piping system or a driven metal ground rod or buried metal plate.  Connect the other end of the ground lead to the grounding bolt on the upper left front corner of the unit. a.  The unit may be supported by, or suspended from, any convenient part of the van or trailer capable of withstanding a concentrated load of approximately 400 pounds (182 kg.). b.  If the unit is to be mounted near a wall or partition, leave clearance to permit maintenance. c.   Use the base plan below for dimensions in selecting a suitable location or in constructing an installation base.
