WARNING
Refrigerant R-22 is contained in the refrigerant system under high pressure. Extreme care
must be exercised to prevent refrigerant from coming in contact with exposed skin and
eyes. Provide adcquate ventilation when discharging the system in a confined area. All
refrigerant gas must be discharged from system before performing any removal proce-
durcs of refrigerant components.
a. Access Cover. Remove eight screws and access cover.
CAUTION
Rapid discharge will cause oil to be blown out of the system.
NOTE
In accordance with Environmental Protection Agency regulations refrigerants cannot be
discharged into the atmosphere. A refrigerant recovery & recycling unit must be used
whenever discharging the refrigerant system.
Operation of the recovery/recycling unit must be by AUTHORIZED PERSONNEL
ONLY
b. Service Valves.
(1) Remove caps from discharge and suction service valves.
(2) Install gauges to service valves.
(3) Connect and operate a recovery/recycling unit in accordance with the manufacturers instructions.
