The maintenance code entered in the fourth position tells whether
or not the item is to be repaired and identifies the lowest

limited repair may be done on the item at a lower level of
maintenance, if authorized by the Maintenance Allocation Chart
(MAC) and SMR codes.
This position will contain one of the

t o i n d i c a t e t h e d i s p o s i t i o n a c t i o n o n u n s e r v i c e a b l e i t e m s . T he
recoverability code is entered in the fifth position of the SMR
Code as follows:
