FSCM (Column (3)). The Federal Supply Code for Manufacturer (FSCM) is
a 5-digit numeric code which is used to identify the manufacturer, distributor,
or Government agency, etc., that supplies the item.
d. PART NUMBER (column (4)).
Indicates the primary number used by the Manu-
f a c t u r e r , ( i n d i v i d u a l , c o m p a n y , f i r m , c o r p o r a t i o n , o r G o v e r n m e n t a c t i v i t y ) , w h i c h
controls the design and characteristics of the item by means of its engineering
drawings, specifications standards, and inspection requirements to identify an
item or range of items.
NOTE
When you use an NSN to requisition an item, the item
you receive may have a different part number from the
part ordered.

DESCRIPTION AND USABLE ON CODE (UOC) (Column (5)). This column includes
t h e f o l l o w i n g i n f o r m a t i o n:
(1) The Federal item name and, when required, a minimum description to
i d e n t i f y t h e i t e m.
( 2 ) T h e p h y s i c a l s e c u r i t y c l a s s i f i c a t i o n o f t h e i t e m i s i n d i c a t e d by
the parenthetical entry, e.g., Phy Sec C1 - Confidential, Phy Sec
C1 (S) - Secret, Phy Sec C1 (T) - Top Secret.
