TM 9-4120-389-14 5-26.  ACCUMULATOR Preliminary procedure: Remove top cover (See para.  4-14). a. Inspection (1) Check clamp for loose or missing hardware.  Tighten or replace as needed. (2) Check for loose or missing mounting hardware.  Tighten or replace as needed. (3) If leak is suspected, leak check per para.  5-6. b. Removal WARNING Polyurethane  foam  used  as  insulation  in  air  conditioner  will  break  down  to  form toxic gases if exposed to flame or a torch at brazing temperature. (1) Remove insulation sufficient to debraze tube connections. (2) Discharge the refrigeration system (See para.  5-3). (3) Purge the system with nitrogen (See para.  5-4). (4) Debraze tube connections per para.  5-5. (5) Remove nut and lockwasher from accumulator stud. (6) Remove screw, lockwasher and nut from clamp. (7) Clear stud and remove accumulator from clamp. c. Installation (1) Place accumulator in clamp. (2) Install stud of accumulator in casing. (3) Purge the system with nitrogen  (See para.  5-4). (4) Braze the tube connections  (See para.  5-5). (5) Replace the dehydrator  (See para.  5-10). (6) Leak check all newly connected joints and those in the repair area  (See para.  5-6), 5-76
