13. Install new idler assembly shaft (Figure 8, Item 18) through idler pulley (Figure 8, Item 19) and bracket
(Figure 8, Item 15).
14. Install idler (Figure 8, Item 14) and washer (Figure 8, Item 17) onto idler assembly shaft (Figure 8, Item 18) and
secure in place using new lock nut (Figure 8, Item 16).
NOTE
Adjustment of the tensioner adjustment bolt will be accomplished during the
reinstallation of the engine to compressor V-belt.
15. Install tensioner adjustment bolt (Figure 8, Item 12) and nut (Figure 8, Item 13) through bracket (Figure 8,
Item 15) and into idler (Figure 8, Item 14).
16. If removed, install adjusting bolt (Figure 8, Item 5), washer (Figure 8, Item 10) and shaft tensioner (Figure 8,
Item 8) on adjusting arm (Figure 8, Item 9).
17. Install new self-locking nut (Figure 8, Item 3) and spacer (Figure 8, Item 7) on shaft tensioner (Figure 8, Item 8)
mounted on adjusting arm (Figure 8, Item 9). Do not tighten at this time.
18. Install alternator V-belt (Figure 8, Item 6) on alternator pulley (Figure 8, Item 11).
19. Ensure alternator V-belt (Figure 8, Item 6) is on other pulleys.
CAUTION
Excessive force when placing tension on the alternator V-belt may cause damage to
the alternator bearing. Use hand force only to apply tension. Do not use pry bar or
any other mechanical tool to apply tension to the alternator V-belt during installation
or adjustment procedures.
20. Pull alternator (Figure 8, Item 4) slightly outward to tighten V-belt (Figure 8, Item 6), then turn the adjusting bolt
(Figure 8, Item 5) clockwise to keep tension on the V-belt (Figure 8, Item 6).
21. Keeping tension on the alternator (Figure 8, Item 4), tighten self-locking nut (Figure 8, Item 3) and two bolts
(Figure 8, Items 1 and 2).
22. Install fan shroud (Figure 1, Item 8) to radiator (Figure 1, Item 9) and secure using two screws (Figure 1, Item 6)
and washers (Figure 1, Item 7).
