Section VIII. FUEL SYSTEM (Model RMP-J/1-10G
3-23.
General.
The fuel system (fig. 3-9) stores, cleans, pumps,
carries and mixes with air, the gasoline needed to
operate the engine. The fuel system consists of a 16-
gallon gasoline storage tank, gasoline filter, fuel pumps,
carburetor, carburetor air cleaner, governor, fuel lines
and fittings, and fuel shutoff cock.

Air Cleaner.
a.
Removal and Disassembly (fig. 3-2).
(1) Unscrew wing nut from mounting stud.
Lift off cover and filter assembly.
(2) Loosen clamp under oil cup.
(3) Remove oil cup, with breather pipe off
carburetor.
b. Cleaning and Inspection.
(1) Empty oil from oil cup.
(2) Wash cover and filter assembly and oil
cup and breather pipe in an approved cleaning solvent.
Dry parts thoroughly with clean, lint-free cloth.
c. Reassembly and Installation.
(1) Install oil cup with breather pipe on
carburetor.
(2) Tighten oil cup clamp.
(3) Fill oil cup in accordance with current
lubrication chart.
(4) Install cover and filter assembly over stud.
(5) Screw wing nut on stud finger-tight to
secure air cleaner assembly.

b. Cleaning and Inspection.

remove bowl (14) from head casting (11). Swing bail to
