SERVICE
Jump Start
WARNING.
Do not attempt to jump-start the MTRCS battery with a 24-volt battery. Using the
wrong battery to jump start a system can cause an explosion. The MTRCS is a 12-volt
system. Only use a 12-volt battery to jump-start a dead battery on the MTRCS.
Do not allow the MTRCS and the jumping vehicle or equipment to touch each other
when performing the jump-start procedure, as this will complete the circuit and cause
sparks.
The battery contains sulfuric acid that can cause blindness and severe burns. Use
extreme care when performing maintenance on or around the battery. Use protective
clothing and face shield while performing maintenance on the battery. If battery acid
gets on your skin, rinse it off with water immediately. If battery acid gets in your eyes,
flush your eyes with water and seek immediate medical attention.
Gasses that may be emitted from the battery are explosive. Never perform
maintenance on a battery when near sparks, open flame, or while smoking.
NOTE
You can jump-start the battery of a MTRCS with a dead battery using a vehicle or
equipment equipped with a known good 12VDC battery. Make sure that the unit with a
good battery is located within the jumper cable required length to the MTRCS unit with
the dead battery. If this is not possible, remove and relocate the good battery as
needed to jump-start the dead battery.
