12. On MTRCS control panel (Figure 2, Item 1), place POWER ON/DOWN switch (Figure 2, Item 2) to DOWN
position.
13. Allow good battery to charge in equipment or vehicle for at least five minutes before attempting to start MTRCS.
14. On MTRCS 2 control panel (Figure 2, Item 1), place POWER ON/DOWN switch (Figure 2, Item 2) to ON
position and follow normal operating instructions (TM 10-8415-222-10, Operating Procedures).
If MTRCS starts, proceed to step 15.
If MTRCS does not start, replace battery (WP 0053, Replace).
15. After MTRCS starts, place MTRCS POWER ON/DOWN switch (Figure 2, Item 2) to DOWN position.
16. Disconnect one end of negative (-) jumper cable (Figure 2, Item 6) from negative (-) post of charged 12 VDC
battery (Figure 2, Item 4).
17. Disconnect opposite end of negative (-) jumper cable (Figure 2, Item 6) from MTRCS refrigeration unit engine
(Figure 2, Item 7).
18. Disconnect one end of positive (+) jumper cable (Figure 2, Item 3) from positive (+) post of charged 12 VDC
battery (Figure 2, Item 4).
19. Disconnect opposite end positive (+) jumper cable (Figure 2, Item 3) from positive (+) post of MTRCS 12 VDC
battery (Figure 2, Item 5).
20. Allow MTRCS to operate for 30 minutes or longer to get a good battery charge before placing POWER
ON/DOWN switch (Figure 2, Item 2) to DOWN position.
21. Install condenser top panel (WP 0013, Replace).
22. Install battery box cover (Figure 1, Item 4) on MTRCS.
23. Install battery box clamp (Figure 1, Item 3) over cover (Figure 1, Item 6) on MTRCS.
24. Install two L-bolts (Figure 1, Item 8) through lip on battery pan (Figure 1, Item 7) and through battery box clamp
(Figure 1, Item 3) on MTRCS.
25. Secure two L-bolts (Figure 1, Item 8) to battery box clamp (Figure 1, Item 3) using two lock nuts (Figure 1, Item
2) and flat washers (Figure 1, Item 1) on MTRCS.
26. Tighten lock nuts (Figure 1, Item 2) hand tight on MTRCS.
27. Place MTRCS back into desired mode of operation (TM 10-8415-222-10, Operating Procedures).
