5. Loosen two alternator mounting bolts (Figure 2, Items 1 and 2) and self-locking nut (Figure 2, Item 3) enough
that the alternator (Figure 2, Item 4) is free to pivot. Do not remove at this time.
6. Screw alternator adjusting bolt (Figure 2, Item 5) counterclockwise until tension is off V-belt (Figure 2, Item 6).
7. Push alternator (Figure 2, Item 4) downward to loosen alternator V-belt (Figure 2, Item 6).
8. Remove self-locking nut (Figure 2, Item 3) and spacer (Figure 2, Item 7) from shaft tensioner (Figure 2, Item 8)
mounted on adjusting arm (Figure 2, Item 9). Discard self-locking nut.
9. If necessary, remove adjusting bolt (Figure 2, Item 5), washer (Figure 2, Item 10), and shaft tensioner (Figure 2,
Item 8) from adjusting arm (Figure 4, Item 9).
10. Remove alternator V-belt (Figure 2, Item 6) from alternator pulley (Figure 2, Item 11).
11. Remove standby motor to compressor V-belts (WP 0036, Remove).
12. Remove tensioner adjustment bolt (Figure 2, Item 12) and nut (Figure 2, Item 13) from idler (Figure 2, Item 14)
and bracket (Figure 2, Item 15).
13. Remove lock nut (Figure 2, Item 16) and washer (Figure 2, Item 17) from idler assembly shaft (Figure 2,
Item 18). Discard lock nut.
14. Remove idler (Figure 2, Item 14) and idler pulley (Figure 2, Item 19) from idler assembly shaft (Figure 2,
Item 18).
15. Remove idler assembly shaft (Figure 2, Item 18) from bracket (Figure 2, Item 15).
NOTE
In order to gain access for removal of standby motor, it will be necessary to position
the alternator located at the pulley end of the standby motor out of the way. Do not
disconnect wires.
16. If necessary, remove tube clamp (Figure 3, Item 3), four bolts (Figure 3, Item 4), washers (Figure 3, Item 5), and
three lock nuts (Figure 3, Item 6) securing alternator brackets (Figure 3, Item 7 and Item 8) to compressor
(Figure 3, Item 9). Discard lock nuts.
